Good Series for Quarantine: Post 3

Hey fellow humans! Welcome back to Good Series for Quarantine! Today we are going to be looking at another interesting mysterious series. This series is the Story Thieves series by James Riley.

The Story Thieves series is 5 books long, and the books themselves are pretty long as well, so it is longer than the Ordinary Boy series. I have unfortunately not been able to finish this series, because my library is always missing the 4th and 5th books, but I am going to finish it eventually. However, the first 3 books are excellent. There are 3 main characters, Owen, Bethany, and Kiel. Owen is an ordinary kid in middle school. Bethany appears to be as well, but there is definitely something out of the ordinary about her. What exactly is becomes apparent when Owen sees her come out of a book. This is where the 3rd character comes in. Kiel Gnomenfoot (great name right?) is actually a fictional character in Owen's favorite book series. Owen convinces Bethany to bring him into the series to see him. Bethany doesn't want to because she is trying to look for her father, a fictional character, which is how she got her powers, but also because she doesn't trust Owen. As it turns out, her suspicions were well-merited, Owen has it all planned out. He alters the whole course of the story by saving the Magister, Kiel's teacher, from Dr. Verity, the villain. Owen ends up going on adventures with Charm Mentum, Kiel's partner in the series. However, they soon learn that the Magister is actually the evil one, and trying to completely eliminate Dr. Verity and his planet.

In this series, Owen, Bethany, and Kiel go on many adventures and face some incredibly powerful fictional opponents who want to cause trouble of some kind or another, even Fowen, the Owen that exists in the fictional world (remember when I said it was confusing?). As if that wasn't complicated enough, there is also a mysterious character called Nobody, who is implied to be the author of the Story Thieves series, and therefore James Riley himself, which is a little strange. In any case, over the few books that I read, the plot seems to never end. It goes deeper and deeper, gets more twisted and convoluted and confusing to the point where I had to stop at some points to try to put it all together. This series is very entertaining and fun. I think that, especially if you liked Ordinary Boy, or thought it sounded interesting, you might like this one too.
